‘Exploit food production possibility in Southern region’

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque asked the agriculture officials and scientists to exploit possibility of agricultural production on vast tract of coastal land in country’s Southern region.

Our demand for food is increasing day by day, so we have to increase more production to ensure uninterrupted food supply. Coastal belt in the Southern part is comparatively more potential in food production, he said.

The minister made this comment while exchanging views with agricultural department officials of Khulna and Jashore region at Jashore circuit house on Sunday night.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee also spoke on the occasion.

Senior Agriculture Secretary M Meshbahul Islam, Additional Secretary Wahida Akhter and Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Dr Amitabh Sarker, among others, spoke. Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) M Asadullah chaired the function.
