Manjur donates truck of slabs to cover open drains 

M Manjur Alam, former BNP-backed mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and director of Mostafa Hakim Group, has provided a truck of steel slabs to cover the open drains in Chattogram city on Thursday. 

While visiting the CCC office at Tiger Pass on Thursday, the former CCC mayor expressed deep concern over the recent deaths of two persons who died after falling into open drains.

He also requested the present CCC Mayor M Rezaul Karim Chowdhury to cover the open drains with slabs. 

On September 28, a college student died after falling into an open drain in the Agrabad Badamtali area of the port city. The deceased is Shehrin Mahmud Sadia, a student of Sadarghat Islamia Degree College.

Earlier on August 25, another person fell into a ditch and went missing in Chattogram. The missing person has been identified as Saleh Ahmed, 50.
