Government expediting economic dev: Minister

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has said the government is working relentlessly to speed up the pace of the country’s economic development by growing productivity in all economic sectors, including agriculture.

The minister made the remark while addressing a discussion held virtually on Saturday titled “Productivity in Irresistible Progress” organised on the occasion of National Productivity Day-2021.

He said the national economic growth of the country depends on contribution all sectors of the national economy

“The benefits of productivity are not enjoyed solely by the producer alone. Its benefits are equally enjoyed by all members of society, including government, employers, workers and consumers,” the minister said.

Therefore, the spontaneous participation and commitment of all members of the society are essential to enjoy its benefits and the only way to ensure this is to turn the productivity development programme into a national movement, he added.

Regarding the country lagging behind in productivity, the minister said, “If we want to get out of this situation quickly, all the national economic sectors have to increase their productivity in a systematic and consistent manner.

“Everyone should be aware of the benefits of productivity and be involved in the movement to increase productivity,” he added.

The minister further said the country’s capacity to implement big projects has increased and its infrastructural development in the last decade is eye-catching.

The soon to be completed Padma Bridge, constructed with its own funds, is a milestone in the economic prosperity of Bangladesh.

Mentioning Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and Dhaka Metrorail, the minister said, “If these infrastructures are completed in time, Bangladesh will further develop economically.”

Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, “To continue the development, a comprehensive practice of policy strategies in the development of productivity is essential.” 

The state minister also said the government has adopted the goal of building a prosperous and prosperous golden Bangladesh by eliminate poverty from the country by 2041.

To achieve this goal, it is essential to increase productivity in all sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana said the National Productivity Organisation (NPO) is preparing master plans to build a happy, prosperous golden Bangladesh by 2041.
