Court accepts final report in Salman Shah death case

A Dhaka court on Sunday accepted final report filed by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in a case lodged over the death of film star Salman Shah.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid accepted the 600-page final report filed on February 25, 2020 by PBI Inspector Sirajul Islam.

Meanwhile, lawyer of the plaintiff, Salman Shah's mother Nila Chowdhury filed naraji (no confidence) petition on the final report and pleaded to record her testimony virtually. The court, however, dismissed the plea as the plaintiff remained absent during today's hearing.

The PBI in its report binned the allegation of murder, saying the Bangla film industry star committed suicide following family dispute.

Salman Shah died on September 6, 1996. Following the death, his father Kamaruddin Ahmed Chowdhury filed an unnatural death (UD) case.

He later pleaded to turn the UD case into a murder case.
