The three member probe committee of Chattogram City Corporation on Tuesday did not find any crack in the two ramp pillars of MA Mannan flyover in the port city.
Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology Professor Abdur Rahman, Superintendent Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Hafizur Rahman and chief engineer of the Chattogram City Corporation Rafiqul Islam visited the spot around 11:30am.
Talking to the journalists Professor Abdur Rahman said that the probe team did not find any cracks on the two Chandgaon-bound ramp pillars of MA Mannan flyover. “So we are going to suggest the authority to open the flyover for traffic soon,” he added.
Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) claimed on October 26 that two Chandgaon-bound ramp pillars of MA Mannan flyover at Bahaddarhat had developed cracks due to heavy traffic.
CCC has set up barrier to stop the movement of the traffic through the ramp that day.
Meanwhile, a team of Design Planning and Management (DPM), who designed the ramp, inspected the ramp pillars and did not find cracks on October 27.
CCC also sent a letter to CUET and RHD asking to send a representative to resolve the matter on the same day.
