KUET suspends 9 students, forms probe body

Authorities of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology suspended nine students on charges of violating rules and regulations.

The decision was made at the 76th KUET syndicate meeting held on Friday on the campus with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kazi Sazzat Hossain in the chair, Monoz Kumar, public relations officer of KUET, confirmed the matter.

The students are Sadman Nahian Sezan of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Md Tahmidul Haque Ishrak of Computer Engineering Department, Md Sadman Sakib, Leather Engineering Department, A S M Ragib Ahsan Munna, Leather Engineering Department, Mahmudul Hasan, Computer Engineering Department, Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Mechanical Engineering Department, Md Reaz Khan Niloy, Computer Science Engineering Department, Foysal Ahmed Rifat, Mechanical Engineering Department and Md Nayemur Rahman Antu, Material Science, and Engineering Department.

The university also formed a five-member probe committee over an unnatural death of Professor Dr Md Selim Hossain of its Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department.

The decision was made on Friday at the 76th syndicate meeting at KUET campus with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kazi Sazzad Hossain in the chair.

The syndicate formed the five-member probe body comprising with teachers and members of both local administration and law enforcement agencies after cancelling previous three members probe committee.

Headed by KUET Prof Dr Mohiuddin Ahmed, the other four members of the committee are member secretary Prof Dr Md Alhaj Uddin, Prof Dr Khondokar Mahbub Hasan, executive magistrate ranking representative of Khulna district administration and assistant commissioner ranking officer of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), said a KUET press release here today.

The committee has been asked to submit a probe report with recommendation to the VC within 10 days over the unnatural death of Prof Dr Md Selim, according to the release.

The report must be pointed out the name of criminals who compelled forcibly to meet their illegal demands.
