HC clears way for travel ban against Rajarbagh pir

The High Court on Saturday cleared way for imposing travel ban against the pir of Rajarbagh by the Criminal Investigation Department, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit or the Anti-Corruption Commission if necessary for probing case against him.

A HC division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after going through documents of a case filed against Pir Dillur Rahman and his men.

The court also ordered the CTTC unit to monitor the activities of Dillur Rahman all the time. Any victim can file case against the pir and his syndicate based on the report filed by CID, the order added.

Advocates Mohammad Shishir Manir and Emdadul Haque Bahir argued for a writ filed in this regard.

A supplementary plea was filed on December 2, pleading to impose travel ban against Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif Pir Dillur Rahman, his associates Shakirul Kabir, Farukur Rahman and Mofijul Islam.

One Ekramul Ahsan Kanchon, a victim of the pir syndicate, of capital’s Shantinagar filed the writ on June 7, 2021, pleading for court’s direction to identify the complainant of 49 alleged false cases filed against him. He also sought the court’s direction for compensation.

The HC on June 14 had asked CID to identify the complainants of the cases and also directed the police to take a photocopy of national identity card of a complainant at the police station while filing the case.

In its probe, the CID found evidences of harassments and other crimes being committed by the pir syndicate. After that the High Court on September 19 asked ACC to investigate the sources of wealth of this syndicate.
