Hanif for legal action against Alal if remarks not withdrawn

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahabubul Alam Hanif today said if BNP leader Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal’s insulting remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not withdrawn with apology within the next seven days, legal action will be taken against him.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable discussion titled “Future of Bangladesh and Thoughts of Youth” at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital. The roundtable discussion was organised by bbarta24.net and Jagoron IPTV.

“BNP resorts to politics of vengeance as it was formed by capturing state power in an evil and illegal way. So, it lacks political culture and decency and its leaders frequently make disrespectful comments against Awami League,” he said.

He said a case was lodged against Alal for his indecent remarks but BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned filing of such case and by doing so, he took stand in favour of these insulting comments. Awami League strongly protested Mirza Fakhrul’s stand, he said, adding that if Alal’s remarks are not withdrawn, legal action will be taken against him.
