The Business Post senior reporter Hasan Al Javed won the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh’s Best Reporting Award-2021 for his story on cyber-crime category.
He will be awarded a crest, financial grant and a certificate soon for his report titled ‘Child porn baring its fangs in Bangladesh’ that was released on November 30, 2021.
The CRAB on Wednesday announced the name of best reporters at its annual general meeting held at Segun Bagicha of Dhaka.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs minister Anisul Huq, Rapid Action Battalion Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Dhaka Reporter’s Unity President Nazrul Islam Mithu were also present at the function.
The report ‘Child porn baring its fangs in Bangladesh’ described that a staggering number of 2,330 child pornography contents are daily stored in digital devices as well as in different app-based storage facilities. Besides, a total of 7,87,810 such contents were found to be stockpiled from the period of December last year to November 3 this year.
Aparat from Javed, Shafiq Shahin (NTV), Niaz Ahamed Labu (Janakantha), Riaz Rayhan (Jamuna Television), Adnan Rahman and Jashim Uddin (Dhaka Post) also won the best reporter award this year.
Earlier, Hasan Al Javed got ‘Prothom-Alo Trust Anti-Drug’ Best Reporting Award (2017 and 2016), CRAB best reporting award 2017, Media Fellowship Award for Gender diversified Population, Supported by Save the Children International-Nepal, Family planning award-2018 by Bangladesh Government Health Ministry and Sensitive Journalism Fellowship by BNNRC in partnership with USAID.
