DK Nath’s 4th death anniv today

The 4th death anniversary of former caretaker government adviser and former secretary Dhiraj Kumar Nath will be observed today.

Born on January 9, 1945 in Noakhali, Dhiraj obtained post-graduate degree in commerce from Dhaka University.

He joined Noakhali Government College as a lecturer and later joined the East Pakistan Civil Service in 1969 and served as deputy magistrate and deputy collector in Pabna and
Patuakhali.

In 1971 he took part in the Liberation War. After independence in 1972, he was posted as a Section Officer in the Department of Foreign Trade. In 1978, he became the first sub-divisional administrator of the Gazipur subdivision. He was the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Comilla district in 1980-81.

He was promoted to secretary in 2001. He retired as the secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Department in 2003 after a long service of 34 years.

He was sworn in as an adviser to the non-partisan caretaker government in October 2006.
