The judicial activities of both the Appellate Division and the High Court of the Supreme Court remained suspended on Monday in honour of late Justice Tafazzal Hossain Khan, a former High Court judge and veteran Supreme Court lawyer.
Activities of both the divisions of the Supreme Court will remain suspended on Monday, said Special Officer of the Supreme Court Mohammad Saifur Rahman on Monday.
The namaz-e-janaza of Justice TH Khan was held on the Supreme Court premises at 11:45am on Monday.
Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, judges of the appellate and high court divisions, political leaders, lawyers and well-wishers attended his janaza.
Later, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique paid tributes to T H Khan by placing wreaths on his coffin. Wreaths were also placed on behalf of the attorney general office, bar associations, law reporters’ forum and different social organizations.
Afzal H Khan, son of TH Khan, said his father will be buried on Tuesday at his family graveyard at Haluaghat in Mymensingh.
Justice Tafazzal Hossain Khan, a former High Court judge and veteran Supreme Court lawyer, died at a city hospital on Sunday. He was 102.
TH Khan, also a former MP, died at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital at 4:45 pm, said his eldest son and senior lawyer Afzal H Khan.
“My father died of old-age complications. He was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night due to weakness,” he said.
TH Kham is survived by three sons and one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his demise.
