Fish-meat-egg production reaches stage of export: Rezaul

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim on Friday said the production of fish, meat and eggs has reached the stage of export now.

He made the remarks while addressing the ‘ACI Deepto Krishi Award 2021’ distribution ceremony at Deepto Television studio in the city’s Tejgaon area, a ministry press release said. Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque was present at the function as the chief guest. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Turkish Ambassador in Dhaka Mustafa Osman Turan, Momtaz Begum, Managing Director of Deepto TV Kazi Jahedul Hasan and Managing Director of ACI Agribusiness Dr FH Ansari, among others, were present.

Speaking at the function, Rezaul said since agriculture is the life of Bangalees, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had stated that farmers must be protected to save Bangladesh. “And the life of farmers is agriculture. Fisheries and livestock is a big sector of agriculture. We’ve reached the unique heights in this sector. We have not only achieved sufficiency in fish, meat and egg production, but also now reached the stage of exporting those abroad,” he said.
