Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Friday said in-person classes will resume in full swing at secondary-level educational institutions from the mid of this month as the Covid-19 situation has improved in the country.

“We hope that we would be able to resume the in-person classes in full swing at the secondary level from the mid of this month. We are going through regular evaluation. Assignments are being given to students,” she told the inaugural session of an education fair here.

Indian High Commission in Dhaka arranged the ‘Study in India’ education fair at a city hotel.

Dipu Moni said due to the spike in Coronavirus infections, at the beginning of this year the educational institutions were closed aiming to check the infections of Omicron, a new variant of Coronavirus.

After remaining the institutions closed for nearly one month, in-person classes resumed at higher secondary and higher education levels from February 22 last, she said.

About the educational exchange programmes, the education minister said the Bangladesh-India relations will be strengthened further through various education-related exchange programmes between the two countries. Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, among others, was present on the occasion.
