A Rajshahi cyber tribunal on Tuesday fined an officer-in-charge of a police station Tk 1 for ignoring its summons for six consecutive times.
Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman gave the punishment to Rawshan Ali, officer-in-charge of Aminpur Police Station in Pabna in his presence in the court.
In the verdict, the tribunal also passed the order of continuing his penalty until the court proceedings function of the day if he failed to pay the fine.
However, the OC paid the money instantly and the bench assistant Hemanta Barman deposited the money to the government exchequer through Sonali Bank Limited.
Public Prosecutor Ismat Ara said Rawshan Ali had detained a youth for spreading rumors on facebook when he was OC of Detective Branch in Pabna district police.
The court recorded depositions of all other witnesses except OC Rawshan Ali as he did not pay heed to the court summons for six times. His reluctance hampered the normal activities of the court badly, she added.
On January 26 last, the court issued a show cause against him.
The OC appeared before the court on Tuesday.
