Comilla City Corp polls on June 15

The third elections to the Comilla City Corporation will be held on June 15, using electronic voting machines at all polling stations.

The election schedule was finalised at a meeting of the Election Commission (EC) held with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awa in the chair at its office on Monday.

After the meeting, Election Commission Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker announced the schedule.

Besides, he said the elections to six municipalities, one upazila and 135 union parishads will also be held the same day as per the same schedule.

According to the schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is May 17, while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is May 19, and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is May 26.

It will be the third election of the Comilla City Corporation after its formation in 2011.

The last Cumilla city election was held on Mar 30, 2017. BNP leader Monirul Haque Sakku was elected mayor for the second term in the polls.
