Daily Covid infection rate crosses 15% after 134 days

Bangladesh on Saturday recorded 1,280 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours as the daily infection rate slid up to 15.07 per cent.

Meanwhile, three died due to Covid-19-related issues, raising the tally to 29,138 over the same period.

On Friday, the positivity rate was 12.18 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 19,63,493, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 8,8492 samples at 880 laboratories across the country.

Meanwhile, 102 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 19,06,519.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
