Education Minister Dipu Moni said that school club activities should be encouraged to promote health and nutrition and develop leadership qualities along with practical knowledge.
She remarked during a visit to Sirajganj’ Shastho Shurokkha Club’ organised by Shastho Shurokkha Foundation at Sirajganj circuit house auditorium on Thursday, a press release said.
The students of the ‘Shastho Shurokkha Club’ shared with the education minister their experiences from the club activities. In addition to nutrition education and adolescent health protection issues, they shared how the ‘Shastho Shurokkha Club’ has taken initiatives to prevent child marriage and drug control at the local level.
“All school clubs should be encouraged to promote health and nutrition and develop leadership qualities. We want our students to learn hands-on knowledge. We have redesigned the new curriculum accordingly. Shastho Shurokkha Club activities are also following the same path. I want to thank Shastho Shurokkha Foundation for such initiatives,” Dipu Moni said.
Along with the education minister, Members of Parliament Prof Dr Habibe Millat, Prof Dr Abdul Aziz, and Abdul Matin Mandal, Director of Shastho Shurokkha Foundation Dr Rafiqul Islam participated as a speaker.
Shastho Shurokkha Club students from different secondary schools, Vice-Chancellor of National University Dr Mashiur Rahman, DC of Sirajganj Dr Faruk Ahmmad, Teachers, govt officials and local people representatives participated.
