AL submits financial report to EC

Awami League submitted its financial reports for 2021 to the Election Commission on Sunday.

HN Ashequr Rahman, treasurer of the AL central committee, submitted the AL’s financial statement of income and expenditure to EC Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker at Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban.

According to the statement, last year, the AL earned Taka 21 crore 23 lakh 46 thousand and 106 while it spent Tk 6 crore 30 lakh 19 thousand and 852. The ruling party has earned about Tk 14 crore 93 lakh more than the expenditure.

The party’s main source of income was the sale of nomination papers and primary membership forms.

Compared to 2020, the income of Awami League has increased by more than Tk 10 crore 90 lakh this year.

Besides, the expenditure has decreased by Tk 3 crore 64 lakh 30 thousand during this period while the party has also deposited Tk 70 crore 43 lakh 70 thousand and 166 in the bank.

The political parties have to submit their income and expenditure account of the previous calendar year to the EC as per the Representation of the People Order (RPO) every year by July 31.

EC has the authority to cancel the registration of a political party if its income and expenditure account is not submitted for three consecutive years.
