The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Sunday discussed about the ‘Anti-Discrimination Bill-2022’ in detail.
The parliamentary watchdog held discussion in this regard at the 22nd meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman M Shahiduzzaman Sarker in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Mostafizur Rahman, M Shamsul Haque Tuku, Shamim Haider Patwary, Gloria Jharna Sarker, Selim Altaf Jeorge and Khodeza Nasrin Akhter attended the meeting.
The parliamentary watchdog also suggested taking necessary measures to reduce public suffering and monitor activities of qazis with the aim of simplifying marriage registration fees.
Apart from the Anti-Discrimination Bill, the ‘Bangladesh Supreme Court Judges (Leave, Pension and Privileges) Bill, 2022’ was also discussed.
It was informed in the meeting that a final decision in this regard will be taken following further reviewing in the next meeting.
Earlier, the JS body also expressed condolence over the death of JS Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah. Concerned senior officials of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry and the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting, among others.
