Amanat Marine Director Hasan held for cheque fraud

Police have arrested Hasan Mahmud, a director of Amanat Marine Works Limited, in a cheque fraud case filed by non-banking financial institution Bangladesh Finance.

On August 19, police arrested Hasan at Uttara in Dhaka. After the arrest, he was brought to Tejgaon police station.

Hasan Mahmud is the brother of Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, managing director of Amanat Marine Works Limited.

Police said Hasan Mahmud was arrested in a case filed by Bangladesh Finance for non-payment of a loan taken from the institution in the name of Amanat Marine Works Limited. Hasan Mahmud owes Bangladesh Finance about Tk 27 crore.
