DSCC allows keeping eateries open till 11pm

All types of restaurants and hotels under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) must be closed by 11 pm to save power.

The order will be effective from 1 September which will remain in force until further notice, the DSCC said in a public notification on Monday.

It said that shopping malls, shops, kitchen markets and business establishments under the DSCC have to be closed by 8 pm.

Besides, cinema halls and recreational establishments will be shut by 11 pm and pharmacies will be allowed to remain open till 12 midnight and the pharmacies at hospitals till 2 am, according to the notice.

According to the decision of the Prime Minister's Office on 16 June, the government directed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to close shops, shopping malls, markets, and kitchen markets after 8 pm to save electricity and energy.
