Lokman Hossain Mia joined the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on Sunday as its executive chairman for the next three years replacing Sirajul Islam.
BIDA officials welcomed the new executive chairman with flower bouquets in the morning at BIDA office in Agargaon. Later, he exchanged views with the officials and employees.
Lokman Hossain served as the senior secretary of health ministry, secretary of textiles and jute ministry, divisional commissioner of Khulna, additional secretary of information and shipping ministries, director of labour department, member (Admn) of power development board, deputy commissioner of Mymensingh and district magistrate.
He retired from the government service on 14 June. But the government cancelled his post retirement leave (PRL) on 23 August and issued a circular on his appointment as the BIDA executive chairman, similar to the rank of senior secretary of the government.
Lokman Hossain was born in Gournadi upazila under the Barisal district in 1963. He completed his graduation in History from Dhaka University.
