Bangladesh announced three days of national mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Friday, according to the Cabinet Division.
From September 9 to September 11, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in all government, semi-government and autonomous organisations, educational institutions, non-government buildings and Bangladesh missions abroad. Queen Elizabeth II, 96, the longest-serving monarch in British history and an icon instantly recognisable to billions of people worldwide, died on Thursday.
She came to the throne aged just 25 in 1952 in the aftermath of World War II, joining a world stage dominated by political figures from China’s Mao Zedong to Soviet leader Joseph Stalin and US president Dwight D Eisenhower.
