‘Measures taken to digitise land management’

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury on Saturday said the ministry had taken initiatives for policy reform and the use of technology in land management.

He said the initiatives were being completed step by step, terming those very challenging.

The minister was addressing a reception accorded to him by The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry for playing a leading role in the ministry’s achievement of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Award 2022. The ministry got the award for introducing the digital tax system in land management.

Saifuzzaman said the Land Crimes Prevention and Remedies Act 2021 was being drafted to protect real owners from the violence and exploitation of land grabbers. He expressed hope the draft would be presented in parliament soon.

The reception held in the Bangabandhu Conference Hall of the World Trade Centre was presided over by The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mahbubul Alam.

Former president of the chamber MA Latif; Chattogram Development Authority Chairman M Zahirul Alam Dubash; Chattogram chamber Senior Vice-President Tarafdar Md Ruhul Amin; Vice-President Syed Mohammad Tanveer; former presidents Engineer Ali Ahmed and SM Abul Kalam and former senior vice-president MA Salam were present at the event.
