Charge framed against 29

A Cox’s Bazar court on Sunday framed charges against 29 accused in the murder case of Rohingya leader Mohibullah.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail passed the order in the afternoon. Public Prosecutor Advocate Faridul Alam confirmed the news to The Business Post.

On June 13, Ukhiya police submitted a charge-sheet against 29 people for the murder Fifteen of the 29 accused in the case were present in the court at the time of framing of charges and the remaining 14 are absconding.

A total of 31 people have been made witnesses in the case. The testimony of the witnesses will be taken at the next date of the trial proceedings of the case.

Mohib Ullah was the chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH) and had a role in various initiatives taken for the repatriation of Rohingyas.

He was shot dead by gunmen at the ARSPH office in the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya on the night of September 29, 2021.

On September 30, his younger brother Habibullah filed a murder case with the Ukhiya police station against unidentified terrorists.
