DMP asks SSC examinees to start early for centres

Dhaka Metropolitan Police has asked all the Secondary School Certificate examinees to keep enough time in hand while leaving their residences for the examination centres.

DMP’s traffic division issued a statement on Wednesday signed by Munibur Rahman, additional commissioner of DMP’s Traffic Division, as traffic situation turned worse in the last couple of days.

The statement said amid heavy rain over the last few days and ongoing construction on different roads, the movement of vehicles has been very slow due to the accumulation of water on various roads. So, the examinees asked to keep enough time in hand while leaving their home towards the centres.

This year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations will begin from today.

As per schedule, the exams will begin at 11:00am this year instead of 10:00am, considering the traffic jam. The examinations will be held for two hours – 20 minutes for the MCQ part and 1 hour and 40 minutes for the written part. All examinees have been asked to enter exam halls 30 minutes before the exam starts and no one except the exam secretary will be allowed to carry a cellular phone.

This year, a total of 2,021,868 students are expected to take the SSC and its equivalent exams at 3,790 centres under the 11 education boards across the country.

Usually, the SSC and its equivalent exams take place in February, but this year they were deferred for about four months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

They were scheduled to start on June 19, but were postponed due to the deteriorating flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj.
