A Dhaka court on Friday placed former chairman of Fareast Islami Life Insurance Co Ltd Md Nazrul Islam on one-day fresh remand in a case lodged for embezzling depositors' money.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order as police produced Nazrul before the court after the end of his two-day remand in the case and pleaded to place him on 13-day fresh remand.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahammed on September 13 had placed Nazrul Islam on two-day remand. The court on that day had also allowed police to interrogate former director of the company MA Khalek and his son Rubaiyat Khalek at jail gate for two days, in the case.
The case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station earlier this month for allegedly embezzling more than Taka 800 crore of the depositors'.
