Professor Dr Kazi Saifuddin has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the newly-established Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Pirojpur.
According to an education ministry notification issued on Sunday, President M Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, appointed Saifuddin as the vice-chancellor for the next four years.
Prof Kazi Saifuddin is a professor at psychology department of Jagannath University. He also served the university as dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Sciences, chairman of the Department of Psychology, and a member on the university’s syndicate.
He received BSc (Hons) and MSc (1990) degree in psychology from the University of Rajshahi. In 2001, he obtained PhD from Kobe University in Japan.
On March 29, the Jatiya Sangsad cleared the way for the establishment of a new science and technology university in Pirojpur to be named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
