A Rohingya volunteer guarding Balukhali camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya was allegedly hacked to death in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Md Zafar, 35, son of late Badiur Rahman, a resident and volunteer of Block H/51 at Camp 18.

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Md Faruk Ahmed said Zafar was guarding the entrance of Camp 18, when a group of miscreants suddenly attacked the guards, shot a few rounds of bullet and hacked Zafar with sharp weapons around 3.30am leaving him dead on the spot.
