The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the anniversary of birth and demise of Prophet Muhammad (Sm), will be observed in Bangladesh on October 9 as the moon of the Hijri month of Rabiul Awal was not seen anywhere in the country on Monday.
As a result, Tuesday will complete 30 days of the month of Safar and the month of Rabiul Awwal will be counted from Wednesday.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at its meeting held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Monday evening with Additional Secretary of the Religious Affairs Ministry Md Munim Hasan in the chair.
On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Prophet Muhammad (Sm) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia. He passed away in Madinah on the same day years later.
