The Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case against Bangladesh Road Transport Authority’s Assistant Director Md Abdul Jalil Miah and his wife Mahmuda Nasrin on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 2.74 crore.

The anti-graft body filed the case against Mahmuda Nasrin for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 2.74 crore while Jalil Miah was accused of helping her to hide the sources of the illegal wealth.

ACC’s Assistant Director Sadan Chandra Sutradhar filed the case on Saturday with its integrated district office in Pabna, said ACC spokesperson M Arif Sadiq.

According to the case statement, Mahmuda Nasrin on January 17, 2021, submitted her wealth statement to the commission showing her moveable and immovable wealth worth Tk 1.13 crore.

However, the ACC during its investigation found that Nasrin owned wealth worth Tk 2.86 crore and Nasrin concealed information about her wealth worth Tk 1.65 crore in her statement.

It was mentioned in the case that Mahmuda Nasrin has income tax documents in her name but she is a housewife. All the properties acquired in her name appear to have been amassed by her husband Md Jalil Miah’s illegal income.
