The vice-president of Eden College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jannatul Ferdowsi, on Wednesday, filed a case against eight leaders and activists of the college unit of the organisation including its president and general secretary accusing them of attempting to kill her.

Jannatul filed the case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

The accused are the college unit BCL president Tamanna Jasmine Riva, its general secretary Razia Sultana and activists Nujhat Faria Roksana, Mim Islam, Nur Jahan, Ritu Akhter, Anika Tabassum Sworna and Kamrunnahar Jyoti.

After recording the statement of the plaintiff, Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur asked the Officer-in-Charge of Lalbagh Police Station to conduct a probe and submit a report by October 24 in the case.

The plaintiff alleged that on September 24, at the instructions of accused Riva and Razia, accused Anika Tabassum and others snatched Tk 20,000 and a laptop from her room and also vandalised it.

On September 25, the accused Riva hit her with a hockey stick in front of Ayesha Hall at Eden College with the intention of killing her.

Later, she and accused Mim attempted to suffocate her. The two accused then left Jannatul thinking she passed away.

Later, she was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On September 22, Jannatul talked to the media about the involvement of Eden College unit BCL president and general in various illegal activities.

Following the matter, a scuffle took place between Jannatul and Razia on September 24. The rival group threatened to oust her from the college dormitory.

Later on September 25, clashes between rival groups took place at Eden College that injured at least 12 people.

The BCL central committee on Sunday also suspended the activities of its Eden College committee following the clashes between two factions of the organisation.
