Cluster admission to 22 public varsities from Oct 17

Submission of application for the First-Year Honours Course will begin from 17 October and continue to 27 October at 22 public universities (general, science and technology) for the 2021-22 academic year.

Qualified students who passed the cluster admission test can submit their applications to those 22 public universities by paying a fee of Tk500.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed, also Joint Convener of Cluster Admission Committee, said students would get the opportunity to choose their subjects of all units of a university by applying with a fee of Tk500 and no additional fees would be required for individual unit.

After the application, students will get the admission opportunity according to the cluster admission test results of students and the admission criteria of the respective university, he added Prof Farid also said earlier it was decided to charge separate fees for unit-based applications but it created huge criticism. “So we have revised the decision. Now unit-wise application is not required.”

Each university in the cluster is divided into A, B and C units. Any applicant can only apply for the subject he/she is eligible for on the conditions prescribed by the university concerned.

Meanwhile, the admission notification mentions that practical test is required for some specialized departments including Architecture, Music, Drama, Film and Television, Theater and Performance Studies, Film and Media Studies and Fine Arts.

Twenty-two universities are Jagannath University, Islamic University, Khulna University, Cumilla University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, University of Barisal, Rabindra University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Sheikh Hasina University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Jashore University of Science and Technology, Pabna University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Rangamati Science and Technology University, Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj and Chandpur Science and Technology University.
