DMP gets new commissioner

The government has appointed Additional Inspector General of Police Khandker Golam Faruq as the new commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Home Ministry’s Public Security Division issues a gazette notification issued in this regard on Sunday.

The appointment of Golam Faruq will be effective from October 29 as incumbent DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam will go on retirement on the same day.

The tenure of DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam was extended for another year in 2021. On September 13, 2019 he took the responsibility as 34th Commissioner of DMP. Khandkar Golam Faruq was posted as Additional IGP Grade-II on November 9, 2020.

Born on October 1, 1964, at Ghatandi of Bhuapur in Tangail, Golam Faruq started his career in Bangladesh Police on January 20, 1991 through 12th BCS.
