Long tailback of vehicles was created on both ends of Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Gomta of Muradnagar as the locals put road blockade protesting against death of schoolgirl in road accident.
Sadia Aktar, 15, a student of class IX at Gomta Ishakia High School, was killed on Saturday after being hit by a truck while crossing Dhaka-Chattogram highway on her way to a coaching centre.
Two of classmates Tamanna and Mehedi sustained injuries in the accident and they are now underging treatment at Chandina Health Complex.
Angry locals put blockade on the highway after the driver of the truck fled leaving it abandoned.
The locals continued the blockade for more than one hour and later withdrew it on assurance of the administration.
Eliatganj highway police outpost in-charge Premdhan Mojumdar said locals blocked the highway after the accident, disrupting traffic movement for an hour and then a long tailback was created on the both sides of the road, he said.
