Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Thursday said that the law enforcement agencies will not tolerate vandalism in the name of demonstration on roads and highways.
“If someone vandalises motor vehicles and set fire on properties, law enforcers will not sit idle,” he told the journalists at the media centre of Bangladesh Secretariat.
Addressing the Dialogue organized by Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF), the minister said that political parties always bring procession and rallies to realize their demands, he said adding, but if any party tries to create anarchy in the country through vandalism and arson attacks, they will face stern action.”
He said that when the government’s tenure is being completed, political unrest was witnessed.
Replying to a question, the minister said that Awami League always thinks that the government will be changed by peoples mandate through elections. “Unfortunately for us, we have seen many things, conspiracies, which forced to change the power.”
“Awami League and our Prime Minister always think that the only way to change the government is people’s mandate through elections. That is why according to the constitution, the government is changed through elections after 5 years, and the Awami League government believes in those elections,” he said.
Asaduzzman said, “Before elections, political parties become more active or conduct various activities to create a chaotic atmosphere or tension in the country. This is not unusual during the elections.”
BSRF president Tapan Biswas presided over the dialogue, while General Secretary Masudul Haque moderated it.
