FBCCI Director Ertaza sent to jail in fraud case

A Dhaka court on Friday sent Kazi Ertaza Hassan, a director of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) to jail after end of his one-day remand in a fraud case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahammed passed the order, scrapping a bail plea of the accused.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain on November 2 had placed Ertaza on one-day remand as Investigation Officer (IO) and Police

Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Sub-Inspector Md Mehedi Hasan sought two-day remand to interrogate him.

According to the case documents, the accused in collusion with corrupted employees of different sub-registrar's offices, used to registrar lands with fake documents.

A team of PBI arrested Ertaza from the capital's Gulshan area on the night of November 1. He is also editor and publisher of the Daily Vorer Pata and The Daily People's Time.
