A case was filed against 10 people including a supporter of Bangladesh Chhatra League over the murder of local BNP leader AFM Kamal in Ambarkhana area of Sylhet city.
Police also arrested Kuti Mia, fifth accused in the murder case, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Azbahar Ali Sheikh.
Victim’s elder brother Moinul Haque filed the case at 10:30 pm on Monday night accusing 10 people including the key accused Azizur Rahman alias Samrat, 35, and unnamed six others.
Samrat is locally known as BCL supporter although he does not hold any post in the local committee.
AFM Kamal, 44, BNP’s former health secretary of Sylhet unit and son of late Nur Mia of Goraipara in Sylhet city was killed around 8:15 pm on Sunday in Ambarkhana area while local BNP blamed ruling party men for the murder.
Later on that night, BNP activists staged demonstration while they allegedly vandalised banners, festoons of Awami League (AL) district and city unit’s council programme.
