The High Court on Tuesday ordered authorities concerned to conduct raids against fake doctors across the country.
A High Court bench of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order, asking the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) president and the Inspector General of Police to execute the order and submit a report in this regard within three months.
The court came up with the order after holding hearing on a writ filed in this regard.
"The court also issued a rule, asking authorities concerned to explain as to why it (court) shall not declare their inaction in enhancing the punishment for the fake doctors by amending two sections of BMDC Act-2010," Advocate JR Khan Robin, who filed and moved the plea before the court, told newsmen.
The court also asked the law secretary, health secretary, BMDC president, director general of Directorate General of Health Services, IGP and BMDC Registrar to reply the rule within four weeks.
Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar took part in the hearing for the state.
