4 burnt in Rupganj gas cylinder blast

Four members of a family, including a child, sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Rupganj, Narayanganj.

The victims are Md Zahid, 40, Ruma, 27, Labani, 11, and Yasin, 8.

They were rescued and brought to the emergency department of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 7:30 am on Saturday.

Resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Dr SM Ayub Hossain said that four people including children came here from Narayanganj in the morning. Among them, Zahid received 29 per cent burns, Ruma received 23 per cent burns, Labni received 22 per cent burns and Yasin received 10 per cent burns. They are being given treatment at the emergency department of the hospital.

Neighbour Abul Kashem said that the explosion occurred due to the leakage of the gas cylinder in the morning. Four members of the same family were burnt. Later they were rescued and brought to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Their home is in Bhulta area of Gauchia in Rupganj. Ruma works as a housemaid while her husband is a job holder.
