DU signs two MoUs for research on disaster management

The Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies at Dhaka University on Thursday signed two memorandums of understanding with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh to carry out research on disaster management and climate change issues.

The university Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman attended the signing events as chief guest. Dhaka University Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Deputy Secretary General Sultan Ahmed and Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh Country Director Khabirul Haque Kamal signed the MoUs on behalf of their respective institutions in presence of the university’s registrar Prabir Kumar Sarkar and the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Director Dr Dilara Jahid.

Graduates of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies will also get fellowships from the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to equip them with knowledge of disaster management.
