The Anti-Corruption Commission has filed a case against five people, including BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and his wife, for alleged plot fraud and defying plan while constructing Hotel Sarina.
Deputy Director of ACC’s Integrated District Office Dhaka-1 Salina Akhter filed the case on Monday, Secretary of the anti-graft body Md Mahbub Hossain said while briefing journalists at the commission’s headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha.
The other accused are– Khasru’s wife Tahera Khasru Alam, her sister and Hotel Sarina’s Managing Director Sabera Sarwar and her husband and Sarina’s Chairman Golam Sarwar and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) building inspector Aurangzeb Nannu.
Mahbub Hossain said, “The accused in collusion with each other constructed a 22-storey building on plot number 27, on road 17 in Banani, which is owned by Chattagram Stock Exchange, and took hold of most of the floors.
“They violated the plan of Rajuk. They also constructed the 21-storey Hotel Sarina instead of the 15-storey on the adjacent plot number 25.”
The case was filed under sections 409/109/467/468/471 and 420.
According to the case documents, Amir Khasru and his wife concealed information about their ownership of the five-star hotel, whereas they are also two of the owners, along with Sabera Sarwer Nina and her husband Golam Sarwer.
