2 committees to check mistake, negligence

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Tuesday said two high-level probe committees will be formed to identify those responsible for errors and distortions in the textbooks published under the new curriculum this year.

The minister came up with the information at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital’s Segunbagicha, saying that the details of the two committees will be informed by Sunday.

She said there will be health, religious, professional experts in one of the committees to check for any mistakes and it would be corrected.

The minister said there will be a website link where anyone will be able to give any kind of opinion, objection and recommendation from anywhere.

She said, “The expert committee will review all these and take best decisions. If there is a mistake anywhere, it will definitely correct it.”

“It is difficult to make the textbook absolutely correct within a year. This year, we gave the books under the new curriculum as experimental. We will take feedback from everyone throughout the year and the books will be revised as per that suggestion.”

Dipu Moni said, “The other committee will check if anyone has done anything intentionally or unintentionally in National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).”

She said, “The pictures which we asked to remove, still remained some in the textbooks. So, we will see if it is due to negligence or intentionally and it should be identified.”

“We will definitely take strict action if there is evidence of anyone’s negligence after investigation,” she added

Earlier on Monday, Dipu Moni said that a vested quarter was trying to make issues by relying on the new curriculum and textbooks to oust Sheikh Hasina’s government without getting any issue.
