Death-row convict arrested from Dakshinkhan

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday arrested a man who was convicted and sentenced to death in absentia in a case filed over the murder of Sharif Khan of Akhaura in Brahmanbaria, from the capital’s Dakshinkhan area.

The arrestee Md Zakir Khan, 47, was arrested in a pre-dawn raid by RAB-3.

Confirming the matter to BSS, RAB-3 commanding officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin said Zakir Khan, son of Md Amanot Khan of village Chanpur of Akhaura, brutally killed his cousin Sharif Khan on August 6, 2015.

Zakir went into hiding right after committing the crime and was tried in absentia. RAB sources said that Zakir confessed his crimes in the primary interrogation.

Sources at the RAB headquarters said Zakir confessed his crimes in the primary interrogation. He will be handed over to police for producing him before a court.
