State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain on Thursday said the government is set to reintroduce the midday meal programme at government primary schools in July this year.
“A massive success will be achieved through the midday meal programme at the schools with ensuring quality primary education and preventing the dropout of students,” he added.
Apart from this, he said, midday meal will also meet nutritional requirements of children, ensure 100 per cent enrollment at schools and close the learning gap through regular school attendance.
The junior minister came up with the remarks during his visit to different schools in Charanchal Narkelbaria of Dhaka’s Dohar and Faridpur’s Sadarpur upazila on the banks of the Padma River.
At the discussion meeting with the teachers, students and parents during his visit, the state minister promised to solve the infrastructural problems of the schools and build the wash block soon and assured them of constructing teachers' dormitories in the Narkelbaria area.
Personal Secretary (PS) of the state minister Md Mikail, Dohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mobasher Alam, Sadarpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ahsan Masud Russell, and Narkelbaria UP Chairman Nasiruddin Sardar were also present.
