49,194 pass MBBS entry exam

The results of the admission test in government and private medical colleges of the country were published on Sunday with a 35.34 per cent pass rate.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque announced the result at a press conference at the Directorate General of Health Services.

According to the results, 49,194 students passed the MBBS admission test. Of them, 20,813 are male and 28,381 are female. The girls outshined boys in the MBBS admission test results as the pass rate of male candidates is 42.31 per cent while the girls’ pass rate is 57.69 per cent.

The candidate who got the highest score of 94.25, Rafsan Zaman, sat for the exam from the Chittagong Medical College exam centre.

On the basis of national merit, students were selected for 4,350 seats in 37 government medical colleges and 6,772 seats in 71 private medical colleges in the country.

The admission test was held on Friday at 57 venues in 19 centers across the country where 1,35,813 candidates took part for 11,122 seats in the 108 medical colleges.

Zahid Maleque said this year the pass rate is lower compared to last year as the exam was held on the whole syllabus.

Last year’s admission test was held on a shortened syllabus due to the coronavirus pandemic where 79,337 applicants passed the admission test and the pass rate was 55 per cent last year.
