City Bank chairman lands in jail in three fraud cases

A Dhaka court on Thursday sent City Bank chairman Aziz Al Kaiser to jail in three cases filed by his wife on charges of forgery and money embezzlement.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order rejecting the bail petition after Aziz AL Kaiser surrendered before the court and sought permanent bail in the case.

In December last year, Kaiser’s wife Tabassum Kaiser filed petitions of four separate cases against her husband on charges of forgery, faking her signature and handing over her shares from Star Particles Mills Limited to someone else.

Following her petitions, the court ordered Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station to accept FIR of the three cases.

Earlier, Aziz Al Kaiser surrendered before the court on February 7 and the court allowed him conditional bail till March 16.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Tuhin Howlader said the accused Aziz was on conditional bail till March 16 but he was enjoying various privileges by violating the bail conditions.

“Due to violation of the conditions, we raise the matter before the court during the hearing and finally, the court rejected his bail and sent him to jail after the hearing,” he added.
