Fugitive death row convict held

A team of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, a specialised unit of Bangladesh Police, arrested a fugitive death row convict who was sentenced to death for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War from Keraniganj area on Wednesday night.

The convict is Md Abdul Khalek Talukder, 73, son of late Md Rustom Ali Talukder and a resident of Purbadhala under Netrakona, said a press release signed by Mohammad Aslam Khan, superintendent of police (Media and Awareness Wing) of the ATU on Thursday.

Tipped off, a special team of ATU conducted a drive in Keraniganj area and arrested Abdul Khalek, the press release said.
