A 14-member ad-interim committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association was formed on Thursday with Mohammad Mohsen Rashid as convener and Shah Ahmed Badal as member secretary respectively.
The committee was formed at a meeting held at Supreme Court Bar building with Barrister Amir-Ul-Islam in the chair, said a press release
The ad-interim committee members are Alhaz Gias Uddin Ahmed, AKM Zaglul Hyder Afrik, Md Nazrul Islam, Dr Rafiqul Islam Mehedi, Dr M Khaled Ahmed, Toymur Alam Khandaker, SM khalaquzzaman, Mirza Al Mahmood, Md Saifur Rahman, Barrister Sarowar Hossain, Dr Samsul Alam and SM Zulfiqure Ali Junu.
Apart from this, a 10-member advisory council was also formed comprising the senior members of the bar including Dr Kamal Hossain, Barrister Amir-Ul-Islam, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sirker, Advocate ASM Hasan Arif and Advocate Joynul Abedin, Justice Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, Advocate AJMohammad Ali, Advocate MK Rahman and Advocate Abu Sayeed Sagar.
The decision was also taken from the meeting that no election of the Supreme Court Bar Association was held on March 15-16.
The ad-interim committee will prepare the voter list by May 15, 2023, as per the constitution and organise the election of the bar association on June 14 and 15, 2023.
The interim committee will manage the routine activities of the bar including communication with the Chief Justice and conducting bank accounts of the bar.
The decision was also taken that from April 1, 2023, until the elections are held, all the officers and employees of the bar, as well as the office of the bar, will be conducted according to the instructions of the interim committee.
