More than three hundred members of extremist outfits surrendered to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan along with their firearms in Sirajganj on Sunday.

They surrendered at RAB-12 headquarters. Apart from Sirajganj, there are extremist activists from Tangail, Pabna, Bogura, Kushtia, Meherpur and Rajbari.

Home Minster Asaduzzaman Khan at the event said that if anyone commits crimes sitting in remote areas and thinks that law enforcers will not be able to catch them; then they are living in a fool's paradise.

He said the government has taken to bring back such people to normal life. They are being given everything from financial support to employment opportunities, he said.

“RAB is doing good work and gained trust. That is why the extremists approached RAB for surrender. Apart from maintaining law and order, RAB is working to eliminate drugs and terrorism,” he said assuring the surrendered extremists to provide them with all necessary support.

RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain said that RAB forces are a symbol of trust and confidence to the common people of the country as well as a scary name for terrorists and criminals. He congratulated those extremists who realised their mistakes and returned to normal life.

According to the RAB, several extremist groups had turned the south-western and north-western regions of the country into crime zone by looting, hostage, kidnapping and murder. Their members were involved in various criminal activities including extortion, murder, robbery, and kidnapping for financial gain.

Around 6,000 killing incidents happened by extremists in northern and southern parts of the country. Also, many members of the law and order forces have lost their lives in their hands.

RAB has motivated extremist family members and members of various extremist groups to bring them back to a healthy normal life.

Later RAB Forces make necessary arrangements with the families of the extremists to encourage the surrender of the extremists and assure them of rehabilitation, employment arrangements and necessary legal assistance through cooperation from the government.

Following this, on Sunday, more than 300 members of the extremists surrendered with more than 200 weapons and a large amount of ammunition in Sirajganj.
